I will be presenting at the Sound Culture Studies and Modernity in Asia conference this weekend at the Tokyo University of Foreign Studies. My paper on Saturday is “From Headphones to the Head-mounted Display: Towards an Audiocentric History of Media Immersion,” exploring the history of binaural audio in Japan as a prelude to the discourse surrounding VR immersion.
